Mr. Sonnenklar is a Partner of the Firm and the Co-Chair of the Firm’s corporate, transactional and healthcare practice groups. He joined the Firm in 2005, after practicing in the health law departments of several large, nationally recognized law firms. He possesses more than 20 years of transactional, corporate and regulatory experience representing healthcare businesses, physicians and other professionals, group practices, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic and treatment centers and other healthcare facilities, management service organizations, and other commercial and not-for-profit organizations rendering healthcare and health-related services.

About the author: Mathew J. Levy

Mathew J. Levy is a Partner of the Firm and the Co-Chair of the Firm’s corporate, transactional and healthcare practice groups. Mr. Levy has particular experience in, structuring and negotiating joint venture agreements, stock purchase, asset sale agreements, shareholders agreements, partnership agreements, settlement agreements, employment contracts, managed care agreements and commercial leases. Among the areas in which he focuses are coordinating mergers and acquisitions, compliance programs, ambulatory surgery centers, establishment of diagnostic and treatment centers, HIPAA privacy regulations, fee-splitting issues, Stark law issues, fraud and abuse rules and regulations and Medicare/ Medicaid, Oxford, Americhoice and other third party payor audits.

Mr. Sussman is a Partner of the Firm and the Chair of the Firm’s litigation practice group. He joined the Firm in 2021 and represents clients in complex commercial and real estate litigation in New York and New Jersey state and federal courts as well as in arbitration. He works with clients to understand their needs and resolve their disputes practically and efficiently, both inside and outside the courtroom.

About the author: Richard J. Weiss

Mr. Weiss, a founding member of the Firm, attended Cornell University and earned a B.S. in Operations Research/Industrial Engineering in 1974. He also attended Adelphi University where he earned an M.B.A. in Finance in 1978. Mr. Weiss graduated from St. John’s University School of Law (J.D.) in 1982. For more than 30 years, Mr. Weiss has represented physicians and other healthcare providers in matters concerning their business relationships, including issues related to their practices and hospital affiliations.
